The main actor in ERTMS Level 2 trackside.

A Radio Block Centre Generic Product implementing the ERTMS subsets, running on a redundant GeminiX configuration, and configured for its specific applications with TrackPlanner CAD.

FOR NON-SPECIALISTS

What an RBC does.

The trackside subsystem responsible for the correct and safe distancing of railway traffic. It holds the picture of which trains are where, grants movement authorities, and talks to the on-board ETCS equipment, the neighbouring RBCs and the Interlocking.

SCOPE

What is implemented, and by whom.

  • SUBSET-026 v3.6.0 — developed in house
  • SUBSET-039 v3.2.0 — developed in house
  • SUBSET-037 v3.2.0 — through third-party libraries
  • SUBSET-098 v3.0.0 — through third-party libraries

DEPLOYMENT

Platform and interfaces.

Certification statusEN 50126 phase 6, EN 50128 phase 7.3
PlatformA GeminiX redundant configuration: two vital computers, two non-vital computers and two ISDN servers
InterfacesOn-board ETCS, neighbouring RBCs, HMI. RBC Generic Product does not interface the Interlocking or the yard objects

INTEGRATION

The product lines, working together.

The three product lines are one offer.

The specific application for an RBC Generic Product installation is produced with TrackPlanner CAD, and the integration campaign runs against automated test scripts that simulate the on-board units and the HMI. The same schematic that produced the configuration drives the visualisation used to verify it.
