Your hardware. Our architecture.

For customers who need their own board rather than our computer. The safety computer reference design is the same one the certified product is built on.

THE OFFER

What a reference design answers.

"We need our own hardware, but we cannot afford to invent a SIL 4 architecture." That is the problem a reference design solves.

GMX-CS implements its safety computer on the basis of the GMX-RS-SoC-G reference design. A licensee therefore starts from a design that has already carried a product through certification, not from a document written for the occasion.

Two documented instantiations
A low-end example on a widely used ARM SoC, targeting medium computing performance, low power, low size and low price; and a high-end example on a high-performance processor with a high-end FPGA, where CPU and RAM sit inside a COM-Express block. Both are GeminiX-Platform instances, and both are described in the platform architecture specification.
DELIVERABLES

What is in the package.

The full handover, itemised.

HW

Production documentation

Schematics, Gerber files, PCB information, bill of materials, assembly instructions, pick-and-place coordinates, mechanical information, board description and bring-up instructions.

SW

Software and licence

Source code with a commercial licence, platform documentation, and the certification data package including the platform certificate.

QA

Golden samples

Reference boards against which your production can be compared.

CL

The application checklist

Requirements your application hardware and software must fulfil, and the safety-related application conditions you inherit and must discharge.

CERTIFICATION

What transfers, and what does not.

Stated without overstatement, because a licensee has to plan against it.

  • Platform evidence transfers with the certificate, under the stated application conditions
  • Board-level evidence must be re-generated for your hardware
  • The Generic Application and Specific Application are yours to certify
  • The safety case, site acceptance and approval remain with you
  • The Development Kit shortens the route; it does not replace validation of the final product
